Last weekend’s domestic chart belonged to Practical Magic 2, which opened at about $30.0 million across 4,146 theaters. Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey held the next two spots while sliding, and the midweek total for the weekend landed near $83 million industry-wide.
This weekend’s swing title is Sony and Constantin’s Resident Evil reboot from Zach Cregger (Weapons). Deadline’s Wednesday preview has it tracking roughly $40–50 million domestically and about $80 million worldwide on the high end, enough to set a franchise opening record and top Cregger’s prior domestic start. It is booked at about 3,000 locations with Thursday afternoon previews, and early critic scores are unusually strong for the series. Vertical’s The Weight (Ethan Hawke, Russell Crowe) and Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom also open wide.
